The Importance of Sleeping Well


Sleep must be important because we spend 1/3 of our lives doing it! Loss of sleep hurts attention, working memory, mood, quantitative skills, logical reasoning, and even motor dexterity.
But is sleep really doing nothing? It looks like it...our eyes are closed, our muscles are relaxed, our breathing is regular, and we do not respond to sound or light. If you take a look at what is happening inside of your brain, however, you will find quite a different situation - the brain is very active. You are doing something!
It’s possible that the reason we need to sleep is so that we can learn better. Everything we have learnt is cemented while sleeping.
Therefore, now that your are having your final exams, it is very important for you to SLEEP WELL!

Hi Ale:

I Think that this is deppending on the person. There are people that can sleep 8 hours but they are very sleepy, but there are also people that can sleep 8 or less hours and the next day are very enenrgetic. It also deppends on what activitis you do a day or even at night.

In addition to the comment of Joaco, I would like to say that I dont agree with him becuase I think that every person can be different as he said, but we all need to sleep well. Because perhaps I can say that I sleeped a lot, and that I am okey, but do you ask your brain? or your organism? CAN YOU ASK THEM? No, so why wont you sleep how we all do? Because it is not only because of learning, it is also because of your helth, and that is a VERY IMPORTANT REASON for why you have to have a long nap.

Hi Miss Ale,
To me this is true. When I have an exam I like go to bed earlier than usual to be able to think about the question and not how much I'd love to be sleeping in bed!!!!

Hello Miss Ale,
I think its increadible that we spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping. I think that in my case it reaches to 2/3, haha!!!
I think that it is very important to sleep well in order to feel well.

Hi Miss Ale,
I train a lot for tennis, and my trainer in what has to do with gymnastics, the human body, helping me with my coordination, adn all that says that there are two trainings: The visible one, which is playing tennis, and doing gymnastics, and the invisible one, which to is eating and sleeping well. (Sleeping 10 hours or what is more alike to it, not eating so many fats). He isn't any trainer, he trained Gastón Gaudio when he won Roland Garros, so I try to learn every word he says. You can imagine this is not the first time I hear this.

It is true because these days I was mgetting up very late because I was very tired!!!!!
But my problem is that I just can go back to sleep if I wake up at night!!!!

Hi miss ale
my mum always tells me the same but when I realize I am tired i go to sleep and sometimes I see that in school I was tired or bored because I couldn´t understand at night I go to sleep very early. It is true that we think when we sleep, my mum is an artist and the mayority of her ideas come to her sleeping and the mayority are better than when she has an idea awake. But not always we sleep 1/3of our life, my cousin always goes to sleep like at 2:00 in the morning and he is already awake by 6:00. I think I couldn´t live like that.

What you are saying is true because if you don't sleep in a middle of a test you are gouning to sleep and you woun't finish. So we have to start resting early so that you can have a good sleep.

Hello Mis Ale
I think to that sleeping is important but i am so unlikely that my mother ran a race through all latin america and the TV show passes at 11:00 and it finishis at12:00 on sundays. Yesterday I couldnt sleep well and on monday I had the writting process exam so it was difficult to concentrate.

THERe are people I think taht sleep 10 or 8 hours and there are people that sleep 6 or 5
If you sleep 8 hours or 10 is better because you will have more energy and uf you only sleep 5 hours the next day you will be very sleepy

I think it is a very good way of passing the exams. SLEEPING! When I have the time I can sleep many hours and I feel it sooo great!!!
I believe that when you sleep your brain can think better for the next day..

Hi miss ale,
I totally agree with you, anyway there are people that when they are asleep you do not even wake them up with a crane. But there are others who with the slightest noise or the lower light intensity wake up.

I think it depends on the day a person has. Because if you dont do nothing but sit on a chair all day long. If you play a footBALL MATCH you will probably be tired. See you in class!!!!

Hello Miss Ale,
About the Final Exams, I think that:
If we need to study a lot, we would stay until evening studing hard. How you told us, we need to study every day so when we have the Final Exam we don't have to study seven hours without stopping a second. I am trying to study everyday, but there are days I am so, so tired I just fall on my bed and watch some TV.
Some people don't study and watch TV all the time. I know some people that do it.

I didn`t knew that when you were slpeeping you learn`t things.People say that you have to sleep 8 hours but for me it depends on the person.In average you have to sleep 8 hours.

Hello Miss Ale!

My opinion is that depending on how much activity you had on that day is how much you need to sleep. The least is eight hours but when you are tired that may not be enough. Some people need less hours and they are really energetics and others need some more to be like that. It is true that when you study and then you go to sleep, the next morning things are clearer. AS a conclusion I would like to say that if you don't sleep well you may caught diseases, you may also lose your hair,or have muscle aches.

i think that sleeping is relaxful and great. we need to sleep alot for our big test tomorrow.
on the camp of rugby on saturday to sunday we only sleep 2 hours because we sleeped at 4:00 and we woked up at 6:00 and we were very tirade but its not good for your body.

I think that is true the important of sleeping because if you dont sleep well you cant concentrate in class because youre a bit sleepy

Hi Miss Ale!
I think that this post communicates something that is very important for our age. Sometimes when I wake up at the morning I count how many hours I slept because if not then I am in a very mad mood and I don't have energy to have a good day. But it depends on the person as Joaco said. If you get used to sleep six hours then of a long term you would be used to it and you would get enough energy for the rest of the day.
In our case we need a lot of energy because we are eight hours per day (except for Saturday and Sunday) studying so we need a lot of energy. Sleeping is very important. It’s the time of the day were your body relaxes. A good advice is that when you are very tired don't go out and try to use more energy that what you have. Stay at hope, take a nap and after wards you will be felling much fine.

I think I have to relax a little more when I am about to sleep because now I am very nervous for the exams so I don´t sleep well.

Sometimes when you don t sleep well when you go to school the only thing you want to do is sleep and you can t concentrate on the class, so then you don t understand.
But if you sleep little but you slep well sometimes you are not so sleepe, now that we have our final exams us you said it is better to sleep more so that the day of your exam you are very concentrated and sure about what you had study

I think sleep is very important, Im not saying for saying like lots of people but it reealy happens to me that I have to wake up at 5:30 a.m. and so I have to go to sleep at 9:30 !!, It horrible but I am used to go to sleep at that time even I am very active, because I know that when I go to sleep I get like 30 minutes awake thinking or relaxing but I can't sleep, and also I know that the next day I cant wake up!!!!, I try to sleep also a bit in the bus but only 5 or 10 minutes, because it moves alott and I wake up every 2 minutes! And also in school I cant move and I passing the day yawning and I don't like it!

I think some people can sleep a lot and other people sleep less and that is enough for them but when people cant sleep well they may not have a very good final exam.

Hi Miss Ale,

I have a very strange sleeping routine. I always go to bed early, but I often stay awake for a very long time. Sometimes I can stay awake in bed till gone midnight, yet in the morning I'm fully awake. At other times I fall asleep instantly and then I feel really tired when I wake up.

Though I am sure human sleeping habits are interesting, I find other animals, particularly aquatic mammals and fish, have incredibly bizarre habits. Take whales and dolphins for instance. They do not actually sleep, they just shut off half of their brain. Animals like shrews only sleep for about two minutes at a time because of their shot-life span. I sure am glad I'm not a shrew. I like my sleep!

I think it is not so important how much don you sleep because peple can sleep less and be on the same mood but yes how well if you dont wake up to the buthroom or anithing else
