Last Days in Y6

You are getting to the end of one stage of your education.
On behalf of all Y6 teachers I would like to say that
we have truly enjoyed working with you and watching you grow up academically and personally. You have delighted us with your many achievements in and out of class. You have shared your disappointments as well as the good times of your lives. You have amazed us by the demanding schedules you have kept. You have made us laugh- a lot- with your marvellous senses of humour. You have been a special group to us.
After a long and wonderful summer you will step into Middle School where we wish you the best of luck!

Modern Foreign Languages

You will have to choose one of the following Modern Foreign Languages next year: (French, Portuguese, Mandarin). Remember the following:
As you progress through your education at school, a modern language will be of benefit to your personal and educational development in a variety of ways. It will allow you to establish contact with people of your own age who speak other languages and to access information from other cultures. It will help you to understand that experience of the world through another language can be just as 'real' and 'valid' as experience of the world through Spanish or English. It will offer you the positive experience of developing an entirely new mode of understanding and expression and an opportunity to acquire an explicit understanding of what the components of language are and how these may be manipulated for different purposes.
Keep in mind that you will have to show commitment at all times throughout the learning process. Good luck in your choice!

Whack Attack

This is a game from the BBC that tests knowledge on Math, English or Science. The questions are good, though the game is a little weird. You’re given three answer choices. Each answer is color-coded, and in order to choose an answer, you have to “whack” the correctly-colored figure that keeps popping up.

Thank you whoever you are. Please read the comment below and see what you have understood. Thank you!

Hi,

A favorite quotation of mine~being a former teacher myself. Obviously, in order to have learning take place you need a teacher(at times) and a student(learner). Teachers open the door~explain, describe, model, and show you how to get the answers. Students must walk through the door by themselves~by focusing, listening, understanding and trying what they have been shown. Teachers teach you how to teach yourself. My goal was to make my students "self-taught" lifetime learners.

Exams and the importance of sleeping well.

Sleep must be important because we spend 1/3 of our lives doing it! Loss of sleep hurts attention, working memory, mood, quantitative skills, logical reasoning, and even motor dexterity.
But is sleep really doing nothing? It looks like it...our eyes are closed, our muscles are relaxed, our breathing is regular, and we do not respond to sound or light. If you take a look at what is happening inside of your brain, however, you will find quite a different situation - the brain is very active. You are doing something!
It’s possible that the reason we need to sleep is so that we can learn better. Everything we have learnt is cemented while sleeping.
Therefore, now that your are having your final exams, it is very important for you to SLEEP WELL!

Cyberbullying

Kids are spending more and more time on computers and cell phones.
For most kids, these devices offer a fun and fast way to stay in touch with friends and family. Some, however, use e-mail and text messages to bully their peers.
This is the video we watched in class and we reflected upon it altogether.
Now I would like you to watch it with your parents and reflect with them on this issue which is affecting society more and more.
