Strategies to understand difficult texts

Whenever you come across a difficult text, you mustn't feel discouraged and give up!

These techniques might help you!

Here are some strategies for you to follow. They might help you understand better and clearly, what you read :

  • Adjust your reading speed for a better comprehension. You might have to read at a slower pace.

  • Try summarizing after one or two paragraphs to check how much you have understood.

  • You might also want to paraphrase what you have read: that means to say, to express in your own words what you have comprehended.

  • Underline key words.

  • Write main ideas at the sides of the paragraph: such as character description, setting, conflict, and so on.

Hope they are useful and you apply them!

Have a nice Sunday!
