Modern Foreign Languages

You will have to choose one of the following Modern Foreign Languages next year: (French, Portuguese, Mandarin). Remember the following:
As you progress through your education at school, a modern language will be of benefit to your personal and educational development in a variety of ways.
  • It will allow you to establish contact with people of your own age who speak other languages and to access information from other cultures.
  • It will help you to understand that experience of the world through another language can be just as 'real' and 'valid' as experience of the world through Spanish or English.
  • It will offer you the positive experience of developing an entirely new mode of understanding and expression.
Keep in mind that you will have to show commitment at all times throughout the learning process. Good luck in your choice!

I am cuite affraid that the language I choose is not the correct one. But in life everything works if you do it work it out. We cant predict the future, so I think it would be okey what I choose. But it isnt to convinse to me. Becuase one thing is writing it, that maby that is too easy for everyone, but, it isnt to easy to re-act.

Hello, Creative Ones,

It was interesting to read about your different languages of choice. My students began their foreign language studies this year. Before making any decisions, they had to look over the following chart to compare languages:

http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/e/languages/index.html

They also got a taste of different languages by exploring BBC's language resources at:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/

Maybe something there will be useful for you, too. Good luck to all of you!

Ciao!

Hi Miss Ale
To tell you the truth I don't have the minim idea of what I will choose because their are plenty of drawbacks benefits and advantages...
Portugese I believe is lots of fun because it is a very happy country and besides I think I will progress a lot because it is easier.
French I think is a very romantic and classic language. I already did french but a long time ago and I don't remember a thing but mabye when I start I will catch it very fast and easy.
Mandarin I think is a total challenge to prove that it is possible.
Anyways I am in duoghts because I can't stop thinking " WHAT IF " But this is a frase I saw in a movie everything is impossible while you don't put what if at the begging of the sentence
Bye
See you in class, kisses

Hi Miss Ale,
I will choose french because of 5 reasons...
1)I lived in France and I forgot a little bit how to speak in french and I would like to remember it.
2)I love france and the language.
3) My sister is doing french in secondary.
4) My parents know a lot of french.
5) I think that for me Mandarin is going to be very difficult.

I also wanted to choose portuguese because It'll be a good experience for me to know a new language like portuguese, but I prefere to do french and I am very confident with it.

Bye Miss Ale,

Hi Miss Ale:

I will choose Mandarin for the following reason:

. Very few people in Argentina know Mandarin and there are many few Mandarin teachers In our country and I think we have to take credit of that. Also knowing Mandarin I can have a great work on the future and also because I want a knew challenge.

See You, Franco. r

Hello Miss Ale;
I started thinking about this choice for next year I think that I had got to a conclucion:
I think that poruguese is very similar to spanish and I think that is very easy
I think that Mandarin is too dificult to my way of learning
I think that the one I am going to learn is French because is a language that I wanted to learn since I was smaller.

The order would be
1. FRENCH
2. PORTUGUESE
3. MANDARIN

Reasons:
FRENCH
I like french since I was small and I think is a good language for me.
POURTUGUESE
I like this second option because is not to difficult and it is a funny language.
MANDARIN
I think that is a difficult language.

Bye Bye

Hi Miss Ale,
Now, some of this days I have to hand in the paper and I don´t know what to choose. I will have to take into account this post in the blog to follow some of this tips and the instructions, the chat we had the other day that brought to me a very good impretion of the foreign languages in secondary school and also what my parents want me and recommend me what to choose. I think Mandarin is not going to be neither my first choice nor my second one because it is to difficult and to hard to understand and I wouldn´t be doing what I really want to do. I am between chosing French or Portuguese because I like the pronunciation of french a lot and my father nows how to speek, so I would like to communicate with him by that language, but as well, portuguese is a very important language because at every moment it goes growing and it is talked worldwide. I am in a very complex situation.
See you tomorrow,

Hello Miss Ale,
This is are really good reasons the ones you say. But the thing is that some people only choose a language because all their friends go there. I choose French because:
1.I don't think Portugese is the Language I want, I don't really like it.
2. I think, everybody thinks, Mandarin is very very difficult.
3.I want to visit London, it is my real big dream. I share it with my sister.
