Several activities

Hello everyone!!
Once again you won't see me at school as I have another day seminar in Secondary School. You might see me at lunchtime.

6A will go to IT in the first period so you have to do all the following activities:

1) Click here and complete the form. It's about making connections with the students in New Zealand. Remember to click on the SUBMIT button at the end.!!

2) Visit our wiki and get familiarised with it. Click on all the items on the sidebar. Have you ever visited it before?

3) Click here if you left a comment yesterday, Wednesday, and you want to know your housepoints.

4) A way of writing good and interesting stories is by writing detailed and showing sentences. This site shows you how a simple sentence turns into a detailed showing paragraph. On Monday you will be writing you clean copy of the mystery story so focus on how the sentences are expanded so that you can apply it in your writing.
  • Click on the site and you will see the sentence with shaded words.
  • Click on the shaded part and see how the sentence expands.
  • Keep clicking and reading until there are no more shaded words.

If you finish all the activities leave comments in the blog.

6B and 6C will have to do activity one whenever they visit the blog!
Thank you!
Have a nice day!
Miss Ale
Thank you to Nik Peachey for sharing this fantastic site

St Andrew's Newspaper coming soon...

Two students are working on a school newspaper! However, before they begin they will need a name for it, and so we have decided to ask you for suggestions. It would be great if it had something to do with Scotland, but it is not necessary, and it must be in English.

Please, leave your suggestions in this post as a comment. You will also be given house points.

Thank you, we are longing to read your suggested names!!!!

How fast can you say them?

TONGUE TWISTERS

Tongue twisters are lots of fun! They're great to help you learn to speak clearly, too. Don't just read them; say them out loud. Enjoy!

1) Give papa a cup of proper coffee in a copper coffee cup.

2) There was a young fisher named Fischer
Who fished for a fish in a fissure.
The fish with a grin,
Pulled the fisherman in;
Now they're fishing the fissure for Fischer.

Reflection of the week!

"Energy is the essence of life. Every day you decide how you're going to use it by knowing what you want and what it takes to reach that goal, and by maintaining focus."

Oprah

What does this quotation mean?

Next week...

By now you have read and listened to different mystery/detective stories. You have presented your story to an audience. It is your turn now to write your own mystery story. You will have to include all the necessary elements that make a story a mystery one: victims, witnesses, suspects, red herrings, crime, crime scene, clues, suspense, intrigue...
Rememeber that you have to plan your story carefully.
Let's be writers for a day!
